Finite Element Analysis on Inclusion Migration during Hot-Rolling Process of Ultralow Carbon Steel

Slivers on the surface of rolled plates, which are serious defects for interstitial-free (IF) steel, occur mainly as a result inclusions in continuous casting (CC) slabs. It is, therefore, important to study CC slabs terms their migration towards during hot rolling. To investigate inclusion rolling ultralow carbon 3D numerical model was constructed using finite element method. The positions layer an IF steel slab (50 mm) were tracked node-tracking Furthermore, analyzed effects scarfing and distribution hot-rolled plate. During hot-rolling process, wide faces intermediate gradually migrated slab. Owing thickness reduction, accumulation areas finally generated at edge plate; these may lead sliver defects. did not affect however, it have reduced content outermost layers located within 1 mm underneath Moreover, near inner arc concentrated 1.5 upper plate surface. Using galvanostatic electrolysis, number large samples prepared from obtained plant measured. measurements agreed well with predictions, validated FE current work.
